Courtney is a speech-language pathologist with over 25 years of experience in providing speech-language and feeding therapy to toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children. She has knowledge and skills in both a school setting and an out-patient pediatric clinic.
Courtney is a certified DIRFloortime®/Basic Practitioner and is certified to provide Hanen: More Than Words® – A Program for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrums Disorder or Social Communication Difficulties. Her treatment experience includes facilitating an SOS® Approach to Feeding, Talk Tools®: Sensory Motor Approach to Feeding, Picture Exchange Communication System® (PECS), and The Kaufman method (K-SLP) for treating Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Her knowledge and skills also include correcting tongue thrust, treating selective mutism, and assessment/treatment involving speech generating devices.
Courtney enjoys the field of speech-language pathology because she is constantly learning, she can be creative and playful, and she has opportunities to work with diverse clients who have diverse needs.
For her, there is no better feeling than when a child says his first word, signs for the first time, or can finally say their name so other people know what it is. Each goal, no matter how small, is celebrated! She says, “I love knowing that I am teaching a child to communicate his inner thoughts and feelings, as well as asking for something that they want."
Courtney took over ownership of Solaris Pediatric Therapy in July 2022, to continue the founder’s legacy of providing a holistic pediatric clinic of excellence, compassion and connection for all families.
As a mother to a neurodivergent child, Courtney's desire is to impact the quality of the whole family connection through our work with children and families who choose to work with Solaris on their child’s developmental
needs.
*"We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to embrace the life that is waiting for us" Mantra for the special needs mom*
